    Debain boot error

Hey can anyone help. I have managed to install Debain 3.1 on my computer but everytime I try and boot it in grub it comes up with:
    errror 25: boot disk.

I have tried chaning the boot order reinstalling but nothing seems to work. I also have xp media centre edittion running but linux is installed on a seprate slave hard drive. If anyone can shed some light on this I would be most gratefull.

    Howdy chris5126,

You need to post your Grub config along with the output of the following ...

    ]# cfdisk -Pt /dev/hda
    ]# cfdisk -Pt /dev/hdb

Please put them between code tags, as described just above the submit box. And use whatever device name is used for your drives.

I'm not a Grub person (lilo), and not familiar with the error code above, but boot problems usually have a common base regardless of the kind of loader used. And google might be an idea for a search on the code message.

It will likely be a miss-configued config file, or a missing secondary loader causing you your problems.

Hint: It's always handy to have a boot floppy handy, but as i remember it, i don't think sarge gives the option to create one at install. I could be wrong there though, will have to go and check on that.

In any case, posting the file mentioned above, along with the cli output should reveal whats what.

How to get in --> Use a LiveCD such as Knoppix or whatever is handy.
