RHGB on Debian
Okay, I've been suggesting a bootsplash screen using X on this dance game called "In The Groove", who happens to use a Debian core and is an arcade game using CGA. Because of this, the screen is unstable during bootup, and is only stable when X has started. So I suggested RHGB, but it only runs on Fedora based distros. Is there any way you can make it run on Debian or do you think ITG 3 will have to be Fedora based?

No, that uses a framebuffer, and CGA can't do it very well. But....this CGA thing is only on the DDR cabinets converted to run the game. ITG 2 has a new dedicated cabinet which happens to use VGA. That is the only way a framebuffer could work.

I use the framebuffer on bootup which gives me high-res text (quoted from the 'menu.lst' file under '/boot/grub' ):
title Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.4.27-2-686
root (hd0,2)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.4.27-2-686 root=/dev/hda3 ro vga=0x317 video=vesafb:mtrr,ywrap
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.4.27-2-686
savedefault
boot

Ahh, excuse me but I said earlier that the ITG machines can't handle framebuffers very well. It's only stable when X has started, so that's the entire reason I suggested RHGB.
