I seem to have lost all sound inn KDE.. I get a error message when I log in telling me that dev/srd can't be found (sound server running zero something, something)-
This are my battles lately;
I finally got my Ati card working with a little bit of 3d support - took me 4 months
I go my wireless working on linux (sometimes, not at the moment.)
2 weeks and it's still on and off
And then the sound suddenly is gone.. Please!! give me a break...
any idea's?

Can you post the exact error message? Is the KDE sound system (artsd) running? Do you get sound in other apps and just not KDE, or are you not getting sound in anything?

It seems that no driver is loaded..

What kind of sound card is it? PCI? Onbaord? What chipset? Is this a laptop or a desktop?

Its onboard via 97' chipset i think.. I just don't get it. I had sound for 3 months and then after installing som packages the sound was gone...
Sound works on my Suse partion but then again i have noe internett connection on suse... so internett or sound that is the question..

That is certainly odd. Have you considered removing and reinstalling alsa with apt?
