debian packages in colinux

i post this here as it seems to berelated more to debian than colinux

installed colinux.
configured the net working etc.
successfully logged in
tried apt-get upgrade

this the the result:

Err http://security.debian.org stable/updates/non-free packages
something wicked happened resolving 'security.debian.org:http' same with
non free packages non-us.debian.org etc etc
then

failed to fetch .... all those urls

reading package lists...done
building dependancey tree...done
some files failed to download. they have been ignored, or old ones used in stead
colinux:~#

any ideas?

Did you do "apt-get update" first?
If so, did that show any error messages?

sorry!
the command i typed was update not upgrade.
the error msg was the one i posted in bits
i got confused while writing the post
i was looking at the wiki page while working colinux so it must have been right.
i shall try again.

i find though windows reports a connection ther is no data transmision from the network.
so nothing to do with debian.
simply the net connection is absent.
i shall look into it.
