5.3 Kernel hangs with USB hard drive attached
I have three linux servers, Web/DNS, Samba, and Test. Two successfully upgraded from linux kernel 3.4.7 to 3.5.3. The third server hangs when you boot 3.5.3. Discovered in testing that if you unplug the usb disk the system will boot with 3.5.3 kernel. When you plug the usb hard drive in the the running system it hangs. Did tail -f on kern.log and the last notice before the hang is the USB DISK loaded successfully with the name of the drive printed out. It would not appear to be a udev problem as the system correctly recognises the hard drive. I'm wondering if it could be a lvm2 issue? Does anyone have a good idea how to toubleshoot a problem that hangs the system. I'm spending tons of time and not learning much. I thought someone might have seen a similar problem.
