it seems to be going fine...
I have got the install in my ibook up to the apt configuration point. I select http or ftp to access the archive and it doesn't connect to any sites. I am using airport express base station. Could that be doing it, as so far nothing has asked me for a network password? Thanks.

larrinski,I have got the install in my ibook up to the apt configuration point.
Are you using the Net Install or are you using a full CD Image to install from? It sounds like you are using the Net Install from the problem you are having. If you are using the Net Install you will not be able to use the Wireless NIC for the install. You will have to get the Full CD image to install from.
This is from Debian's Net Install page!
After that, you can try and do a search for driver support! What types of network connections are supported? The network install assumes that you have a connection to the Internet either using analogue PPP dial-up or using an ethernet connection. This may be through a PCMCIA adapter on laptops. Internal (PCI) ISDN cards and WLAN cards are not supported - sorry!
Thanks,

You beat me to the response before I got my message edited! Please see my original message again. It looks like according to Debian you can't do the Net Install over Wireless yet. There is no driver support at the current time.
I would try and see if you can get a full install disk and then get the drivers for the Airport Extreme.
Please see this Topic also, as it is dealing with Wireless and installation as well!

I have never tried bittorrent but installed it for this purpose. It seems as slow as molasses! 82 days to download on some. I am on a cable modem and am used to very fast download speeds. Is it because I am new to Bittorrent? I opened port 6881 as well. The other method jigdo seems a little convaluted.

Truthfully I have never used Bit Torrent, or the jigdo methods. I have always just used the http or ftp method and that normally did not take too long to download. I am by no means an expert on installs with Bit Torrent. I always was told it was the fastest way possible, but 82 days seems rather unreasonable
Maybe somone else can help with that part!

Thanks. I decided to go that method as well. It seems to be a ton faster than bittorrent.

Maybe it is just me, with a fast connection, but these downloads seem to take a long time. 7 to 8 hours to complete. Does anyone know of a mirror that is fast? I am on the primary cd image server for Sweden. I am in canada but there are none for here. All the US mirrors are between 3 to 7 hours.

OK, jigdo isn't that hard to figure out as long as I follow the directions properly. Do I need all 14 iso images? I have read from a few that the 1st two are fine, but that might be for someone that has debian already or Windows. Any ideas?
