Migrating Server?
Hi,
I've built a Debian Sarge Server on a PII clone. Everything has been working flawlessly.
I'm running Web, DNS, Squid, FTP on the box.
I've just purchased a Dimension 3000 and I would like to migrate EVERYTHING to the new server.
I'm looking for some advice and some guidance in completing this project without having to reinstall and configure from scratch.
Thanks in advance.

well, that may be tricky. You could try Norton Ghost, but I forsee some kernel problems unless it is pretty much the same system. You could ghost the drive, and put it on the other machine. Reboot with a live cd, chroot, compile you a new kernel with options for the hardware of the new machine and reboot. Also, you may have to change some router specific settings, such as updating the internal ips it assigns to the machines connected to it, or your port forwarding...not sure though, just a guess...but it does seem logical that it would work this way...
Whatever solution you find though, post back, so we can see what did and didn't work...I'm interested in this as well, as I want to migrate a server soon...Operating System: GNU Emacs

I have Norton Ghost but I've had some bad experiences with XP and I'm afraid it may not be compatile with Linux.
I'll give it a try nonetheless and I'll post the aftermath.

Shouldn't be much of a problem, hopefully, we use it to install 100s of OSX installs on g4s and g5s per semester, and only get a few glitches here and there, which can be manually fixed with ease from the individual workstations...
