    Problem installing Ubuntu

    Hello,

Last nite I tried to install Ubuntu intp my PC and it went OK up until it was installing the base portion. It gave me an error message saying it cannot install Kernel.

I did not know how to locate the log file, but does anyone have any tips concerning this issue? Othwerwise I will have to install FC4 since at least that works, but I would prefer Ubuntu.

The first thing to verify would be your ISO file from which you burned the Ubuntu CD.

Have you done a MD5SUM on it.

Check out the MD5SUM's for all version of 5.10:

Sounds like a faulty disk. Do like antidrugue suggested and check the iso:
    Code:
    md5sum <isoname.iso>

I also tried to install latest Ubuntu that I got with some Linux magazine. It stopped exactly at the same spot as the copy I did from an ISO image. I doubt they would have put corrupted Ubuntu into a world wide Linux magazine.

Can you post some details about your hardware?

Plus, make sure that "Plug & Play OS" is enable in the BIOS.

Can't really since the distro is burned on a CD that came with a magazine.
