    Internet Connection Failing

I am currently running Ubuntu 5.10, fully upgraded. Everything works beautifully, except my internet connection [cable] just up and dies randomly, although it seems more common within the first 10 or 15 minutes of use. My network card works fine up until that point, and it works nicely in Windows XP Pro. I tried running Firefox from the console in hopes of getting an error or something, but nothing was returned.

Note: When it "dies", I lose connectivity to everything, not just Firefox.

Note: I also had this problem in Ubuntu 5.04.

I know it's originally designed for wireless cards, but you might try ndiswrapper- if you have 5.1 ubuntu, the kernel should already have the proper modules. To make things easy, just install ndisgtk from synaptic and use it to load the windows driver you use for your network card.
