Knoppix is based on Debian. Find .iso's for it here.

majority of popular live distros are based off of debian, i think the closest to a "true debian system" in form of a live distro would be ubuntu-live but knoppix is faster just because of the specific modifications and use of ramdisk more efficiently ... but then again it is only a live distro and it all depends on what you are looking for out of it. may the penguin travel with you

Um ... Is Mepis clasified as live?. I use it, and the new RC has a nifty onthe go feature, so put your desktop on the stick and take it with you. I have to admit, I have not tried this, but anything to get rid of windows on the work machine without upsetting the boss.

reguardless, I think the original poster was looking for a good debian test drive more than a 'Desktop in your pocket' solution, and in that case, his best choice would probably be Ubuntu

How is that so when DSL uses apt, can be turned into a full blown Debian system, and uses Knoppix startup scripts???
