    no audio in totem

I am running debian with Gnome desktop, and i have everything running .... except sound with totem.
If i place a music cd and run the cd player V2.6 included in my distro, i get music.
I have narrowed the issue to just Totem (totem-xine)
I have tried to uninstall totem-xine and install totem-gstreamer and i only get ref errors
I have an integrated sound card on the motherboard, and a TV Wonder Ver 400 TV card installed on the system.
****I have removed the TV card and it resolved my issue....well, changed it anyway..... How do I make Totem-xine send DVD audio to my sound card and not the TV Card?????****

I have run out of ideas and im ready to throw the box out the window.....or worse---go back to a Microsoft solution. PLEASE HELP!!

If it actualy is a Totem problem (as in not related to Gnome's slightly outdated sound system, or Debian's insistance on prefering OSS over ALSA) then Edit->Preferences.

First, disable TV-Out, then click on the Audio tab up top, try the different possible outputs and see what works best.

(also double check your sound mixer/volumes to make sure that NOTHING is muted)

I have removed the tv card entirely (pulled the card from the motherboard) and the sound for totem is working.....
When the TV card was installed, I disabled the tv out, and tested each audio types.
What i think the problem is that totem thinks that the TV Card is a sound card and is defaulting to it rather then to the sound card built into the motherboard.

Is there any way to modify a conf file (?) to over-ride an auto-selection of an audio card? If this type of issue was happening in a Windows environment, i could modify an INI file to do this.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Can you check and see if you are using OSS or ALSA?

No luck finding the /.xine/config file :drown: and i dont have any idea if im using oss or alsa drivers......
The only thing I can think to do is just pull the TV Card out and just not watch TV on this box (i have not been able to devote the time to get THAT set up anyway)

    Any other suggestions are welcome

If you need specific information about my system, let me know what data ya need (and maybe how to get it??) And I will repost...I currently just have the TV Card un-installed
