Finaly got my imac G3 400 in, installed debian for ppc via net install, GDM wont start...what can i do to fix it? its at the text login but cant ...

    Exclamation Installed debian for PPC, GDM not working

    Finaly got my imac G3 400 in, installed debian for ppc via net install, GDM wont start...what can i do to fix it? its at the text login but cant load GUI

    check and see if
    Code:
    /var/log/XFree86.0.log
    gives anymore information

    i do that, even though im logged in with SU password (SU'd under my login name) it says permission denied

    i restarted my imac...i get this error: Ican not start the X server. it is likely that it is not set up correctly

    the error log says: "usr/x11r6/lib/modules/extensions/libglcore.a:m_debug_clip.o": no symbols found

    it says no symbols found for all 5 of them

    as root run dexconf
    then
    dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86

    ok, for my imac what video card driver should i select in the Xserver configuration?

    i went through and did the reconfigure, still getting the same error i was getting on the first post, except now it says (besides no symbols found) Error: No Screens Found

    EDIT: crap. ran it again, accidently selected 15in monitor instead of 14, now it boots, im guessing it loads GDM, but after it blinks the text login, screen goes blank
