Resolution Will Not Stick...
Right now the max resolution i can set my laptop screen too is 1680x1050 but i'd like it to be 1440x900. When i change the display options and choose to accept the changes, the resolution looks good and stays until i reboot. When i start the computer again it goes back to the max resolution. i've edited the xorg.conf file but it went back to the max resolution after that as well.
Any ideas?

Try running dpkg --reconfigure xserver-xfree86 as root and setting disable the resolution(s) you don't want to use. It should stick then =)

i just ran "dpkg --reconfigure xserver-xfree86" after loging in as root. It doens't do anything.
i'm running Kubuntu/Debian. Does that make a difference?

can you post your xorg.conf file
try editing out all other resolutions except the one that you want. Also what window manager are you using? Gnome? Kde? something else? All right, brain. You don't like me and I don't like you, but let's just do this and I can get back to killing you with beer. All New Users Read This!!! If you have a grub problem please look at GRUB MANUAL

Got it to work, you have to completely shut down, not just log out. i got it to work though. i didn't switch out all of the resolutions either until just now.
Restarting and changing all of the resolutions worked. Thank you
