That's correct, you do have to put dsl in front of it, or you'll get an error message.

That's right.
Thanks a lot. It worked like a charm!
Now my problem is connecting to the internet using a external modem... I will not ask a question right now because I haven't explored the topic...-D-

- 01-26-2006 #13If you find out let me know. I had the same problem. I didn't look around much or anything, because I don't even like the dsl livecd..no decent IM Client, but I'd still like to know the solution.

Create new connection > Enter name of ISP > Tab > Enter
The program will ask if you are using a dynamic dns, static dns and none. I experimented with static and dynamic and it worked with dynamic... Don't forget to use the space bar to make your selection before clicking OK...
The program will now ask for the authentication protocol (I use PAP.) Then you will enter your name and password given by your ISP... The program will ask for your modem speed (I used the default and didn't bother to look for the documentation of my external zoom modem... It worked so nobody bother me!) The program will ask if your line works with tone or pulse (I used tone) and then for the phone number to dial up your ISP.
The program now asks for your modem configuration and tries to detect it. If you have a external modem you must know the port where it is connected (mine is at /dev/ttys0) Once you specify manually your modem (in case you need to as I did...) choose the option Finished to save the configuration and then close the window. The small ppp window will let you now connect by clicking in DIAL... You should be up and running now
Good luck!
Yesterday I was able to fix the resolution of my screen but forgot to write down the settings on a notebook
Glad I now know how to do it! I shall write my notes regarding DSL Linux because I am in love with it...
