Activating Intel Graphics Card in Mepis

Using SimplyMepis 3.4-1RC1 on my laptop. Inside, it has a Intel® 82852/82855 Graphics Controller in it. I downloaded the drivers for it off of Intel's website, then did the tar install method in its setup - tar -zxvf (filename). The driver is version 3.4.3006. Following the tar, it then goes on to explain how to install it in SuSE, but not any other distributions. I presume the install went okay, the tar didn't give me any warnings, but it's only a means of decompression as far as I know. I believe it installed X11, but I don't know if Mepis runs that or something else. Anyway, if someone knows how to initialize the drivers for Mepis that'd be great - The Mepis OS center only permits it for Nvidia and ATI cards, but I'd enjoy gaining some kind of graphical ability in it.

Or, better, if anyone knows if the Mesa drivers for intel can do high fps that'd be great - glxgears gave me a fps of ~800. Is that enough?

    Mepis and Intel graphics driver

You should ask your question at www.mepislovers.com. I am pretty sure the question has been presented and answered there. Have fun with Mepis.
