    kubuntu help

I am basically a complete noob when it comes to Linux, but I installed kubuntu on my new laptop. There are a couple of things I was wondering if I could get some help with.

    1. How can I change adept to get updates, such as Firefox from the internet and not from the install disc?
    2. If I download Macromedia's shockwave, can someone, give me a walkthrough on installing it?

    Thanks for your help
