    Proftpd

I have a copy of proftpd on my debian server. I am able to access my server from another computer using the username I made when I set up the machine (xur17). The problem is that I want to add a user to it with their own directory. When I add a user using useradd, they add fine, but I still can't login to the ftp using that username. What am I doing wrong?
