    Administrator Mode doesn't work!?!?

i'm trying to activate my wireless card under Setting>Network&Connections>Network.

When i click Administrator (the only way i can edit things) it brings up an interface asking for my password. i type my user password and the screen goes away and it acts as if it's going to do something, then the administrator button is highlighted again and i can click it and try again. The password is corrrect because i've tried root's password and it says the password is incorrect. It wants my user password.

    What is going on here?

hmm, I'm not really familiar with ubuntu/kubuntu, try running the settings menu from the CLI with 'sudo' (you will have to find out the exact name of the application).

Normaly, though, I usually prefer to setup things through the CLI. To setup wireless, I've found ndiswrapper very useful:

    Reinstalled...

i've just reinstalled Kubuntu. Before when i had it running everything went smoothly. i did not have to install anything for my wireless card to work. It's an atheros card too. i just had to enable it and make it so that it automatically is activated on startup.

i'm just going to reformat the partition again but this time using windows. i wonder if the system is getting installed weird.

Atheros cards make use of the mad-wifi driver..

You will get much better help if you always remember to specify the Distro, and the specific hardware you are woking with. a lot of people will skip your post and not bother to ask if you didn't provide the info..
