Ubuntu and NVIDIA
Hello everyone, I have installed Ubuntu on my computer. So far I like it, but I can't figure out if it's got the driver for my video card yet. In Suse I was able to download the driver via updates, but I can't figure out how to get the driver on this version. I have an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200. It seems to be okay, but I notice when it does 3D things its a little slow. Thanks for your help.

I haven't used Ubuntu for a while, but you might try
from the command line as root.Code:apt-get install nvidia*

Are you trying to install the driver?
Or are you unable to get the file?

When I was using Ubuntu, I had to go to NVidea's website to get the driver from there. There you can find instructions also. Did you browse ubuntuforms.org yet? I'm sure they have many topics on the drivers.
BTW, the driver made my system freeze at random and messed up things pretty badly, so be warned.

ubuntu and nvidia
Best thing to do is follow ubuntu forums starter guide for your ubuntu version. Instructions are very clear and detailed. Have fun!

Same card
I have the same card, and I installed the NVIDIA stuff and it works fine... but did you ever get TV out to work? I'm building a pvr and I need tv-out...
It doesn't even show the BIOS when it's booting but it works in Windows with TV-out...
Also it shows the card bios on my vga moniter... but nothing ever on the tv
