This is the download link - http://www.debian.org/distrib/ftplist
If you download full CD ISO images, you really only need like the first two for a working desktop. You can then get extra apps through apt.

Also when you are looking around at http://www.debian.org you could download the basic iso and then you will be able to pick and choose what packages you want on your computer.

If you have the bandwidth to download the DVD iso.. I would actually recommend grabbing the netinstall iso instead and letting the installer download the latest packages during install. . The install will take less time with this approach and be up to date as soon as the install is complete.

is it sick of me to want to download a dvd .iso of the latest debian? i'm not too good at this apt-get business. for me it's all about one click and let the computer do the rest. as soon as i have to start picking and choosing things called packages or dependencies it's all over. anybody know where i can download the latest dvd iso of debian?

I'd also suggest getting the netinst CD, which farslayer mentioned. During the install, you can easily choose the xwindow sistem, gnome, kde , whatever, no mucking around with apt-get at all.
Also, if you plan on using Debian, getting to know apt-get is definitely a plus. You update the package list with:
apt-get update
then install a package with:
apt-get install package
