debian gfx adaptor driver for intel 7221

    (Dell Poweredge SC420)
I haven't been able to locate a debian driver for the CuRiver chipset, Intel 7221 on board display adaptor. Can anyone help if only to put me out of my misery by letting me know there isn't one ?
Dell have been marvellous so far, ie they won't discuss it because they don't support debian on that box.
    Thanks in advance.

apparently you can use that chip in Linux but it looks like you need a current X server implementation to do so..

This is for a Fedora Installl on the same chipset..

    ust upgrade
    xorg-x11-libs-6.8.2-37.FC4.49.2.i386.rpm
    xorg-x11-Mesa-libGL-6.8.2-37.FC4.49.2.i386.rpm
    xorg-x11-Mesa-libGLU-6.8.2-37.FC4.49.2.i386.rpm
    xorg-x11-sdk-6.8.2-37.FC4.49.2.i386.rpm
    xorg-x11-xdm-6.8.2-37.FC4.49.2.i386.rpm
    xorg-x11-Xdmx-6.8.2-37.FC4.49.2.i386.rpm
You would need to be running either the Testing (xorg 6.8.2) or Unstable (xorg 6.9.0) branch to get xorg in Debian. I do not know if the latest version of Xfree86 supports this chipset or not.. (although it should... )

Excellent thanks. With a little help from a colleague I have got the sarge-backports setup and have installed Xorg.
What I need to work out now is what settings to add/change in the xorg.conf for the Intel 7221 adaptor.
    TIA - Lee

I haven't but a quick lookup suggests that might be an option worth trying - thanks. I'll let you know what transpires.
