HP 5610 All In One; Scanner Issues
Ok, hoping you guys will have some ideas. Here's the deal. I'm running Kanotix (everything up to date).
I can't get the scanner on my HP5610 All in One to function; even by compiling the HPLIP 0.9.8 fromhttp://hpinkjet.sourceforge.net/ (newest version) software. The printer works great, but not the scanner. Both worked on Kubuntu just fine; so I don't know what the difference is, any ideas?

you might have to install/use sane for the scanner

yes, you have to install sane-backends and then in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf add hpaio to the list.
you also have to start the hplip init script usually its
/etc/init.d/hplip start
or
/etc/rc.d/hplip start
then you need a program such as xsane. Which is very powerful and easy to use.All right, brain. You don't like me and I don't like you, but let's just do this and I can get back to killing you with beer. All New Users Read This!!! If you have a grub problem please look at GRUB MANUAL
