My system broke after I did an apt-get -f upgrade.I think I lost many binaries and I could not loginto my pc(with root and other users).I used this to meet the dependency problems during package installation. How can I overcome this?Any suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks,Nature

Just a suggustion for later, don't use the -f option. It forces the install but I am sorry I don't know how to fix it, it almost looks as broke as you can get.

    Hi Nature,

I'm not at all sure I can help you, but can you be a bit more specific about your problem?

Did you try to login in a graphical manner, into Gnome or KDE?

Have you tried yet to boot up in the failsafe mode or something (second choice in th GRUB menu)?

What error messages do you get?

Once after an upgrade I could not login graphically anymore because the disk was full. I had to boot up in failsafe mode, and make space on my disk from the console.

    Regards,

    Daan

I get the same SELinux error.. I don't have SELinux extensions installed.
Selinux is the secure linux extensions created by the NSA. it shouldn't be ashow stopper

So is this Debian Stable, Testing, or Unstable ?

How far does the boot process get ?

What is the last error on the screen when the boot process stops ?
    far...out

    Hi,
    thanks for the replies.
Well now my system boots. At the login prompt when I give the username(including root) I get a "Login incorrect".I checked the /etc file shadow
the passwords are just fine.I think something is going wrong with rcS.d(but I am not sure). And my debian is a mix of unstable and testing.
    Nature.
