aacraid driver not creating /proc/scsi entry

I'm having a problem with the aacraid driver that I am using. When it loads it is not creating an entry in /proc/scsi. Other entries exist there such as aic7xxx, but aacraid is missing. It is my understanding that this entry is supposed to be created when the driver loads. The reason why this is a problem is because I have a utility that allows me to configure RAID devices that requires the entry in /proc/scsi/aacraid be present. I'm in a fairly limited environment so I'm not able to patch or update the kernel at all. But I can re-compile the driver. Is there a variable that needs to be changed in the driver source that will cause this entry to be created? Or is there something else I can do so this entry will be created? I have searched the net and haven't found anything useful on this, so I'm hoping someone here will be able to help. Thanks in advance.
