    Struggling with hotplug

I am having a problem getting hotplug to work. I am very much a beginner at Linux, and many of the tuts online are difficult for me. I've managed to mount a usb flash drive using the mount command. This should hopefully mean that my usb setup is ok. I've installed the hotplug apt package, and basically all the folders that are mentioned in various tuts, are present on my system. When I plug in the usb device, nothing happens. I don't see any hotplug modules loaded either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using the 2.4.27 kernel and running Debian Sarge.

    sarge and flash drive

Check out linux-tutorials on this site for How to mount usb flash drives in linux by imdeemvp. You might consider upgrading to kernel-image 2.6.8 for sarge for better hotplug support. But this article should get you started. Also try http://www.debianhelp.co.uk/ for debian help and tutorials/refs. Enjoy debian!
