asus a7s8x-mx sound problem! *NOT RESOLVED*
hey all
Im new(ish) to linux, ive had limited experience with FC4 before switching over to ubuntu for the first time last night. Ive been messing around with it but i cant work out how to get the sound to play.
I have an ASUS A7S8X-MX mainboard but the only driver i came across was for a Red Hat Distro so that wasnt too much use to me. Im desperate to get sound on this as I was intending to use it as a client and pull the music off my server machine in another room through it. Any help would be most appreciated.

do you mean that the driver was in .rpm format?
there is a program called alien that will convert from .rpm to .deb, which you can then install withCode:dpkg -i package_name.deb

nope still no luck with that.
Anyone suggest any sort of help that might be able to aid me in getting some sort of sound out of my Ubuntu box.
I've checked the sound options and its detected a SiS driver, which is a good thing but theres still no joy on the sound front. No output from totem or from mplayer.
