Intel 865 graphics driver problems
I'm installing Linux Debian onto a Viglen server running a Intel 865 chipset. I have problems setting up the graphics card to get it into the desktop environment. I'm selecting the standard VESA driver and have tried different settings but have had no joy. It shows somwthing on the screen but its just jibberish. I have also tried going into recovery mode and configured through the XF86 config file but also have had no joy there either.
I don't know the make of my monitor but it is a 17" TFT-LCD and on the back it says the power is '100-240v,50/60 MHz'. Also if you press the menu button on the monitor, it says '800x600, 75 Hz 47.1 Khz'.
Does anybody what driver I need and how it can be setup through either normal or recovery mode?

Intel 865 and debian
Have you tried apt-get install xdebconfigurator hwinfo mdetect read-edid x-window-system to get "auto" XF86config? Or depkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 and choose medium type of questions asked? Or working with status quo using vga driver until you can work out proper settings for XF86 with your monitor/lcd's optimal setting?
Google debian install (or configure) Intel 865 will give many hits for others with same problem. Whether using i810 or other driver, or upgrading to xorg, or upgrading kernel, or configuring your own, is answer to getting the best setup.
Good luck.
