    no midi?

I can't play midi's. Sound works. In KDE's control thingy, in the audio seccion there is no midi device to select. Is this a hardware problem or is there something I have to download? Do you need to know what soundcard I have to help me? (I don't know what I have at the moment) Thanks in advance for your help.

Yep this means your sound hardware doesn't have a midi table/synth on it. Fear not there are software workarounds. If you just want to play back midi, install timidity++, which uses a sweet sounding midi software synth. I believe there are engines which can permanently take the place of your missing hardware. Pretty much all systems I have used have been without, but I always get by with timidity.

Ok, so I installed the timidity and freepats packages. This is what I get:
    Code:
    family-desktop:/etc/timidity# timidity /home/jonandtice/documents/tabs/test.mid
Output rate adjusted to 48000 Hz (requested 44100 Hz)
Warning: Audio buffer is too small.
    Playing /home/jonandtice/documents/tabs/test.mid
    MIDI file: /home/jonandtice/documents/tabs/test.mid
    Format: 1 Tracks: 2 Divisions: 96
    Sequence: Title
    Copyright: Copyright message
Text: This file was created by TSE3 from Trax Software.
    Track name: Untitled track
    No pre-resampling cache hit
Last 1 MIDI events are ignored
    Playing time: ~12 seconds
    Notes cut: 0
    Notes lost totally: 0
    What's wrong?
