SimplyMEPIS - oscenter is missing
Hi,
I've got a weird problem with the latest release of SimplyMEPIS.
Sometimes, when I start my machine up, the networking doesn't start automatically. So I have to go into the Mepis OSCenter dialogue box to turn it on.
The problem is, when I do that now, I get the standard KDEsu box asking for my root password. When I type it in and press Enter, I get an error saying the oscenter command can't be found?! Same when I call it on the Konsole.
Now, because I can't get onto the Internet (because I can't get into the right panel to turn it on), I can't use apt-get to replace any broken packages there may be.
I've not made any configuration changes to the system whatsoever, oscenter just plain stopped working, right out of the blue. As far as I can see, everything else is working as it should.
What's going on? And how do I fix it? Thanks for your help,
UK31337.
P.S. anybody else finding that sudo in Mepis simply does nothing? No errors, just no output. It's broken. I have to use su and type in my root password to do any root tasks on the command line.

Let's get your oscenter working first if we can, then we'll tackle the network thing.
In a terminal, if you type in whereis oscenter, what does it tell you? Hopefully it's something like /usr/bin/oscenter /usr/share/oscenter. If so, use the full path to the program (i.e., /usr/bin/oscenter) to run it. You can change the launcher in the K menu to use the full path, too.Stand up and be counted as a Linux user!
