    problems with KDM or more?

    Hi all,

    I have Debian Sarge installed on my system and during some events in the day the whole system crashed; until i rebooted i had lost almost all my command line commands and all files and applications gave a " these files cease to exist. " error.

    On a reboot I the kdm screen appears perfectly but i cannot login either as a local user or as a network user; it will go to load but the kdm resets itself and i end up at the login page again. KDM settings for my user are correct because i have a floating profile and i can log in to other linux computers without any problems or changes...

    Any ideas?

    Can you log in via a console? (CTRL+ALT+F2)
