Question Can you help a desperate newbie?

    Hey guys

First of all, I woud like to say this a good site, reading other articles here and im impressed.

Today I managed to get Debian 5.10 and installed it on dual boot.
Trouble is, I have a wireless PCI card and can't figure the life on how to install drivers for it, the console is new to me and I'm not familiar with linux.
    x window system is working.

the card is a d-link DWL G520+ pci, can someone post a link to the file and can someone tell me the cmd line to install, I really need to get on the net with linux urgently.

    Thank you

    BLaZor

    first thing first.

In order to determine your card chipset, you need to open a console and type the command

    lspci

as root. Post that output and we'll let you know how to set it up. You may be able to load new kernel modules or need to use ndiswrapper to getit running.

Post back and we'll let you know.

actually, since you dont have internet in linux yet, you could just copy down the relevant portion of that ouput. Look for anything that mentions your card and copy that line down and post it instead of the whole thing.

    5.10 you must mean Ubuntu...

DLINK G520+ wifi card, and it has a acx-111 chipset on. During the install of Ubuntu 5.10, everything was detected and installed correctly, it even works with WEP!

The acx_pci module (which is what you'll find at acx100.sf.net) supports acx111 cards, like the DWL-650+
