hostname not being updated with dns/dhcp
hello folks. I have having a problem configuring my hostname with a windows dhcp and dns.
I have tried everything I have been able to find and can't get it to work for me. I am using debian 3.1 testing/unstable. the network is working fine but even on the machine it can't resolve its own hostname.
if anyone could give me some places to start it would be appreciated.

no ones knows anything about this?
it works fine with my fedora 4 machine, and of course all windows machines can change the name and it gets registered with dns and dhcp. I just can't seem to get this Debian machine to register its name with dns. it gets a dhcp ip just fine but doesn't send the hostname, so the name isn't resolved by other machines.
any help is appreciated.
