Do you have enough hardware to run kde and mepis, a fairly heavy distro, without lag?
    Operating System: GNU Emacs

i don't think so. I had never this kind of problem. I have ran Kubuntu, Mepis(2004),Mandrake2005 and Mepis3.4-3 LIVE CD and this is the first time it happens.

the cursor doesn't move for 1 second after pressing a key. I know it's ridiculous, but if you're typing all the time, you get nervous....

A 64MB video card will chug on anything more than XFce, in my experience. What about your other hardware? CPU? RAM? Harddrive speed?

Well, you're in good shape with all your other hardware. Even with an older display card you shouldn't be getting *that* noticeable of lag. This is a shot in the dark, but are you using the Nvidia display driver or just VESA?

I noticed your other thread about your mouse. This problem could be a mouse driver issue.

Well, the issue probably isn't the mouse itself, rather the driver you're using. Your system probably didn't differentiate between the two mice and used the same driver. See the other post for more details.
