I cannot play mp3 or anything similar in any program. Amarok 1.3 specificaly is what im trying to use but nothing else works comp does however make soundeffects....

    cant play mp3

    Did you try with xmms?
    Code:
    apt-get install xmms
    If you did, run xmms from console and see what's the output you get trying to play the mp3 file

    Of course the faad (for decoding) and faac (for encoding) ones are AAC files related (mp4).
