Need Help Connecting Ubuntu to Server
Hello everyone. I need some help to access the internet using Linux. I have an ASUS A7N8XE-Deluxe, AMD 2500+, and Radeon 9200. (I know its old. I’m giving it to my children for school as soon as I get my new 64-bit. Yes, I have a copy of the 64 bit version of Linux.)
I really don’t know computers, so I’m having trouble with terminology/information. I just installed a 300GB HD and partitioned into 200/100. Windows XP Pro went on the first partition and Ubuntu on the second. I can access both OS’s thru Grub. In Ubuntu, I don’t know how to answer questions in the Evolution installation wizard. The Windows properties are as follows:
Device Name: WAN Miniport (PPPOE)
Device Type: PPPoE
Server Type: PPP
Transports: Internet Protocol TCP/IP
Authentication: PAP
Compression: none
PPP Multilink Framing: Off
I also know the Server IP and Client IP addresses. In the wizard drop down option lists, the above information is not listed as an option for answering the Server Type, Server Configuration, and Authentication Type. There maybe others I won’t know once I answer these. If anyone could help get me thru this installation, I surely would appreciate it. Thanks. Gary

If you go to System | Administration | Networking, you can configure your Internet connection in there.
