    grub problems

    i installed debian just recentily and when i got to the end it askes me if i want to install the grub i choose yes and when it restarts it automaticly boots in to windows i have installed this same kernal on my school hard drive with two other partisions of windows and it gives me the grub option not this time on my own personal computer it is running a gigabite kbtriton ga-k8vm8000m mother board amd athalon 3400+ processor the kernal im using a 32 bit debian kernal not a 64 but amd does allow 32 bit support in fact the windows partision i use for windows is a 32 bit os i just as i understand there is a way to check the boot loader to see if the info is in the boot loader and if not ad it using knoppix a little help

    It's in /boot/grub/menu.lst. Yes, you can change it with a knoppix livecd, as root, and after you change the read/write access.

    It looks as if grub was not installed in the mbr of the drive. Thus, chroot into the system with Knoppix and relaunch the grub install script so it installs in to the mbr and not in a primary sector of your root partition (which probably happened).
