The obvious answer is "Has it been released yet ? " if you expect it to be stable wait for the release in June, Otherwise it is still a work in progress and you may experience some issues..
Of course I run Debian Sid (unstable) as my desktop so I ENJOY living on the edge

No, not yet ready. Still too many grave bugs exist and some will probably never get sorted out. That is why it isn't available yet in its final form. (I had it on one laptop running until three weeks ago, but as the developers have not responded or fixed any of the 16 bugs I submitted, I gave up on them). I usually discourage from using Ubuntu (imho a very bad distro), but I am paranoid anyway.

depends on your setup
In contrast to the last post, I really like Ubuntu. While it hasn't been released yet, I have read many reviews of the pre-release versions and they don't mention too many bugs. As far as I know the biggest show-stoppers are dependant on your hardware configuration, so its a bit hit and miss: perhaps it will turn out usable, perhaps it will destroy itself in a week.
I'd recommend that if you want to use it as a desktop, wait until 1st June for the full release. But if you like living on the edge, give it a shot but back up your work first!

Bugs? Yeah, definitely. Grave bugs--no, not right now. Three months ago, sure. But it's usable now. If an application crashes on you, though, don't complain.

Hmm... breaking cups completely and altering my fedora partitions (which were on a separate harddisk!) inode tables due to the automounting is imho a grave bug! I really hope they solved that by now.

As everyone else is stating its a work in progress and as all Linux distro's not quiet ready for the masses.
With that said it has the currently long saught after Broadcom43xx native linux driver and actually works without that much extra work.
Thats saying something about how well of a job the folks contributing to ubuntu are doing there jobs.
I dont get much for problems with it. It seems to pretty much just work.
