display manager issue
Hi all,
i've spend lof of time on an issue with my display manager :
i m using etch and xserver-xorg 6.9.
Here is the problem :
at the end of the kernel's boot, kdm daemon is launched '/etc/rc2.d/S99kdm'
the daemon is turning on but i got a black screen.
But when i go back in a tty, log as root, i relaunch the same daemon '/etc/init.d/kdm restart' and everything works fine : kdm is launched correctly and i can start kde.
I can't understand this issue (same with kdm,gdm,xdm ...)
The worst thing are the log, i can't read anything about errors
This problem becomes totally boring :/
Let me know if you know howto solve it.

check the xorg log in the /var/log directory

I guess there should be something in one of those files.
There may be a setting/parameters in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf that your display manager doesn't like at all."To express yourself in freedom, you must die to everything of yesterday. From the 'old', you derive security; from the 'new', you gain the flow."

I have reinstalled xorg (same file config) and now it works but i've got something else right now

ksynaptics is installed (xorg.conf is ok too) , it works fine but when i boot the system , it seems that kdm can read the synaptics settings(in xorg.conf and the log are ok) but when kdm appears, the trackpad setting are wrong ( pointer totally slow ,seems like the default setting)
But, once again :/ ,when i restart the kdm service by a tty, the synaptics settings are back !
damn ...
