Puzzled: sound decreases automagically to mute when cd-drive is inserted
Hi all,
Yes, that's right.
Altough I consider myself not to be a complete n00b, I seem to be unable to solve this one.
Whenever I insert my DVD/CDrom player into my laptop (Dell Inspiron 8600) the sound starts decreasing to 0. I even see the volume decrease in kmix (it does not jump to 0, it realy decreases one step at a time). Trying to increase the volume by volume-key, mouse or aumix does not help.
Removing all sound modules effectively kills my sound, but I'm still unable to increase the volume (kmix volume bar keeps trying to decrease itself).
lsof-ing /dev/(mixer|mixer1|snd/*|dsp|dsp1adsp|audio|audio1) did not help either.
No proces seems to start when I insert the drive, /var/log/* don't change on insertion either. Oh, removing the drive *does* cause the decreasing to stop.
uname -a
Linux zeddian 2.6.15.4-zedd-ck4-2 #3 PREEMPT Fri Mar 17 23:16:53 CET 2006 i686 GNU/Linux
I'm lost. I really have no idea where to look next or how to debug (what is there to debug, when apparently no proces show increase in processing/memory etc?)
Could someone please point me in a helpfull direction? I'd greatly appreciate it!
