I should not even ask about wireless until I am more comfortable with Linux os first. Any way, I have DSL wireless router connecting 4 home PCs with 3 of them using Dlink 120 wireless usb adapter( all XP). The PC with Debian is with Dlink 120.
Actually, the first question I have is which package can I install to make it "windows" like.

Assuming you have the wireless card working - be it with madwifi or what have you - I would look at SWScanner for scanning for networks. If you don't have wireless working, look at the madwifi drivers I believe they will work with your card.

I think you will have to use something like ndiswrapper for these, have heard that usb wireless is unreliable

Wash you mouth out I presume you mean which WM is most windows like, this is a hostage to fortune but probably installing kde-desktop. I'm off now cos I've most likely ignited a flame war

This looks like a possible way of doing it:

I guess NDISWRAPPER (in conjonction with the windows drivers) would do the trick as well:

Thanks for all the help and information. My home network is working if I boot it with XP. I will try them out see whether I can make the wireless network working in Linux environment. I will keep you inform in my progress.

Hmm. . . I have experience with the DLink "Wireless USB" and from my experience, it has only been Microsoft friendly. . . the dependencies are fairly stoic and not gnu-friendly. Netgear works excellent for most OS, afaik.

Download Ndiswrapper and tried to follow antidrugue's procedure of installing Ndiswrapper, getting error at the "make" command. Did not copy down the whole error message, it is something about cannot find file in lib/module.... Any suggestion?

From the sound of it, you're compiling ndiswrapper from source. Which means you'll need to manually resolve the dependencies. I would run make again, not what library is missing, and try and apt-get it.
