The easiest way I've found is to run the driver installer from ATI's site.

The "fglrx" (ATI proprietary) driver is avalaible directly from "Sid" repositories (non-free section):
    http://packages.debian.org/unstable/x11/fglrx-driver
    http://packages.debian.org/unstable/...lrx-kernel-src

Whats better open or binary ?

Open being from the distro right?
Binary being closed-sourced like from ati's site ?

I actually installed the binary one which was so easy and only took like a minute

Binary drivers from ATI perform betters. You can verify that it is the case for you with
    Code:
    glxgears
Open drivers are often more stables though.

Very true, I just realized it after testing
