TSCC Codec On Debian?

Hello again,

I have been trying to get a linux version for the Tech Smith Screen Capture Codec (http://www.techsmith.com/download/codecs.asp. I have a few avi files that I want to watch but they require this codec and I am unable to find a linux/Debian version of it. Does anyone know of any subtitues or of any sites that might have a linux/Debian version?

What do you mean by try FFmpeg? I have tried typing that in the command line and also tried apt-get install FFmpeg, but nothing happened. I need a bit more of a detailed explanation thanks, as I am still a Debian noob.

Hello again,

I have now installed ffmpeg but it seems a bit complicated for me to use. I have a few avi files(linux turorials from a friend) and every time I open them with xine I get an error that says I don't have the TSCC codec it can play sound but it can not play video.

What I would like to do is somehow convert them or play them as they are, but ffmpeg is a bit too complicated. Can someone give me some example commands of what I should do.

Thanks for all your help, the problem has now been fixed. I did as you said and apt-got installed ffmpeg and used the mmplay program to play the movie... works fine.
