Hello I am running Debain with kernel version 2.6.8 to 2.6.16 on Dell server's can someone suggest a monitoring and diagnostics software that will email the admin when a problem is detected.

for this you can use nagios,munin or cacti tools these are very good tools and it does all the features you are looking

Currently I am using nagios to monitor apache
I was looking for some thing I could load on debian that would monitor and check the hardware for problem and email me.
