? on making CD's from image file

I'm trying to make the Debian distro CD's from an image file on a DVD that came with a "For Dummies" book. Do I pre-format the disks? Or does burning the image format the disk in .iso format?

I keep getting disks with one big .iso file, while the Debian FAQ's say that correctly done, you should see a list of files on the burned CD.

    Thanks for any help,

    Steve

yeah, thats the way it should be.Burn the cd with an option like 'burn image to cd' or 'burn .iso to cd' on your cd burning software
