    screens

i just installed debain but when I type startx I get an error message about screens. It says that debian has found screens but they aren't the correct ones.
My best guess is that it is reffering to the screen size which I set to the resolution that I use in windows 1280X1040. I would change this but I have no idea how to get back to that screen.

It's been quite a long time since I've run debian, but I believe the command you are looking for would be:

    dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

That or dpkg reconfigure x-window-system, depending on whether or not you're using stable Debian or not. You can also edit /etc/XF86Config or /etc/X11/xorg.conf by hand, whatever file it is.
