Unhappy howto resize partitions of a dual boot machine

I have an IBM thinkpad with dual boot Debian Linux and Windows XP. I would like to know if it is possible and if yes, how to reallocate/resize the 2 partitions (increase Windows while decreasing Linux). I tried PartitionMagic but it did not work because Linux is the default partition (grub) and I guess PartitionMagic could not read the partition table (it returned error #108 ).
    Thank you,
    michaela

You might try using the Gparted LiveCD. You can get the 30 MB download and instructions for using it here:

Or QtParted, a clone of PartitionMagic, in SystemRescueCD which is available for download (121 MB) here : -

You can also find it in a Live CD like Knoppix.

Unhappy RE: howto resize partitions of a dual boot machine

    Hi Ozar,
Thank you for your prompt reply. I installed Gparted and ran it, but all it does, in my case, is to dispaly the partitions I can not do any operation (other than delete on the first partition - which is ntfs). The laptop is IBM X60 with a SATA HD. Any suggestion?

    Hello Thinker,
Thank you to you too for your reply .. I will try your solution next, and let you know how it goes...
