    installing debian from hard drive



    hi all
    i downloaded the debian 3.1 sarge distribution 14 cds
    and i burned the first cd to install the base system
    i succeded to do that and i am now running it but i would like to install the
    remaining packages so i am asking if i can install them from the hard drive
    without the need to burn the whole cds
    can i do that?

    yes I guess you can do that, you need to give the partition along with the location of the package dumps there at the prompt:

    Ex:
    /dev/hda2/DebCDS/

    first greetings for ur replies and helping me
    but i am new to linux and moving from microsoft windows which make me very mad and i decided to use linux cause i am sure he is the most powerful os as i read from articles and books about it .
    also i read different comparisons between it and windows

    so if u can simply explain the steps for installing debian from harddrive
    i red the manual of apt annd edited the sources.list file but when i update the package it give me error
