Making KDE default
Hi all:
Back again! Just wondering if someone could tell me how to make KDE the default! I currently have KDE installed, however I have to select it prior to boot-up on each occasion through Gnome, therefore I would wish to know how to enable KDE each time I boot-up?
Thanks
Oliver

hi oliver79 !!!
after boot up, when first login screen come up, click on session and choose KDE...
when you enter username and password, it will ask for default session... select it as a default session..........
<=== { casper } ===>It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Hi:
Yes, thanks for that. What you suggested I did in the begining, however it wont default to KDE, rather it goes to Gnome, and then I have to select KDE? Well I'm doing a fresh install currently due to an error I incurred earlier, therefore I'll ensure I put KDE as default and see if the same thing happens again!
Thanks
Oliver

hi,
you could put the line
startkde (or) exec startkde (or) exec kde-session(I do not remember correctly)in
.Xclients-default in your home directory which is called from .Xclients
or

Making KDE default
I Have the same problem in Debian and I solved it by changing the symbolic link /etc/alternatives/@x-session-manager to startkde or gnome-session. This solutions works only if we use startx to start X windows. If we use display manager see explanation of devils_casper.
