    problems after kernel compilation

I wanted to upgrade to debian testing in order to that I had to compile the kernel I compiled kernel 2.6.17.7 with the instructions from http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/lin...ile-error.html and http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21
after compilation I could not start shorewall anymore because the modules were not found and Iptables could not be loaded
    I got this message:
    shorewall start
    Loading /usr/share/shorewall/functions...
    Processing /etc/shorewall/params ...
    Processing /etc/shorewall/shorewall.conf...
    Loading Modules...
ERROR: Traffic Shaping requires mangle support in your kernel and iptables
I also had the same problem with the 2.6.16.9 kernel

I am kind of confused I wanted to ask if someone could please help me so that I can fix this.
I used the config-2.6.8-2-386 config file
Please help me out I realy need this

    Thanks in advance....

    regards
