Installation problem with Debian 3.1
Hello all,
I'm trying to install debian 3.1 (sarge on DVD version) on a new computer (P4 with Asus MB P5VDC-MX), but it's not very simple for the linux newbie I am.
The system doesn't reconize my SATA HD (WD 300 GB) or maybe the SATA controler (error : no HD are currently connected to the computer or something like this).
I search on the web, and I found many messages from users which meet the same problem, but no clear solution for me...
May someone can help me ? Is there some patches ?
I also tried the latest fedora version, but same problem. Moreover, with Fedora the integrated realtek ethernet controller RTL 8201CL is not reconized (contrary with debian).
Many many thankx in advance.
Tilaw (an disappointed windows user).

http://kmuto.jp/debian/d-i/, the solution ?
Thanks for your help, but I already tried based kernel 2.6 installation and I meet another problem : my USB keyboard is not reconized.. .
Currently I'm trying to install a non official debian released by K.Muto. based on Sarge (http://kmuto.jp/debian/d-i/)
It seems to support both USB keyboard and SATA drives.
The kernel release is 2.6.
I will let the forum know, if the problem is solved. I'm sure a lot of people will be interested on.
Indeed many thankx for your reply !!!
